War is useless. The only place war should exist is in a video game such as Call of Duty, to entertain 21 year old college students after the Laker game is over. Nobody dies when I fire my bullets into the layers of code that have been programmed to look like an enemy soldier, and no mother has to watch as the remains of her son or daughter are lowered 6 feet underground. There are no tears, no fears, and there are no sleepless nights where a 7 year old girl wonders if her Dad will ever hold her in his arms again to protect her from the evil within her closet. Nothing has ever been gained or proven through the exploits of war; whatever raw materials that were obtained by a “victorious” nation are used and forgotten, almost as quickly as the souls of the fallen. Peace treaties are signed, and peace treaties are eventually broken. It’s a vicious cycle that will never amount to anything other than loss and hardship. Nothing was ever created by war. Stalin never created the light bulb. Gaddafi never gave someone the gift of life. Hitler never created a network where friends and families can connect and share information and ideas. They only created pain, heartache, and war. And war is useless.
Call of Duty, on the other hand, is not useless. It is entertaining and a way to relieve stress. I just wish I could give the ability to re-spawn to a soldier fighting overseas tonight.
