this is the story of a man
who discovered a brand new land
who knew a hero lived among us
under the name Christopher Columbus
the whole world thought young Chris was crazed
but his resolve was never phased
“the earth is flat!” the town proclaimed
but his desire to leave remained
he began to plan out what he’d do
when the time came to leave all he knew
he told his wife about his plan
and hoped to god she’d understand
his reasons for leaving love behind
to be destroyed by the strength of time
he vowed to write and someday return home
but until then he’d exist alone
so the day came for Chris to set sail
and he swore that he would prevail
prevail he did and he proved them wrong
he proved what he knew all along
he sailed that ocean oh so blue
in the year 1492
but despite the letters he promised to send
his wife never heard from Columbus again.
